Kratak i iskren album, još jedan u nizu dobrih i pravih HC uradaka.
Loša vlast, loši ljudi, loši odnosi, sve to tera jednog prosečnog i razumnog čoveka da izgubi poverenje i krene svojim sopstvenim putem u borbu protiv vetrenjača.

Although I have a habit to listen and review just local releases, I’ve been contacted by Greek HC band Overpain, asked me to listen their album. They’re Mediterranean smashers stationed in Thessaloniki. It is short, but true album, another in the row of genuine HC things.

Entire album is overloaded with anger and disagreement with patterned, molded environment. Main moment is constructed on lyrics and testimonies that are told to listeners. Gruesome authorities, awful people, bad relations, all these things force one youngster and average sane person to lose confidence in others and take its own path to fight with windmills. Everything would be easier if there are no fools that undermine and misunderstood HC, so there is another fight inside existing one, additional fight of proving that HC isn’t just about music and hard sounds, but about way of living and thinking.

Riffs are solid, but thrown in the background, so the full potential remains hidden. Main problem is in spelling of lyrics, and because of that, there’s interruption in flow of the singing. It could be more better if they paid just a little bit more attention to arrangement of lyrics with music. There are backing vocals, which sometimes lead the flow, and they are arranged very well, but after them, main vocal often lenghten the lyrics, and that sounds piled and too raw.

There’s nothing much to say about production, it’s HC, so there’s no need for state-of-the-art production and mixing. Everything sounds how it’s supposed to sound, accent is on the message which is fully transposed. Very essence of this bands are live gigs with blasts of energy, so from the technical side, recordings are great.

In the manner of speaking, this is unusual album, because we aren’t used to listen a lot of HC from these areas, but guys from Overpain know exactly what are they playing and living. If you are into HC, this album will surely delight you.
